It’s not uncommon for investments, shares, bank accounts and insurance policies to become lost when a person forgets to update his or her information after moving residence. Unclaimed money is tracked and documented by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).

If nothing is revealed in an ASIC search, you can look for other types of unclaimed money through the Australian Taxation Office, the Fair Work Ombudsman or state government websites.
